Well at least we know that intelligence and honesty are not important traits of an Obama press secretary. That is all which can explain how Robert Gibbs can get up on the podium and diminish the office of the president by using his position to attack private citizens with lies.

By now, anyone who wants to be informed has heard what Rush Limbaugh has said about Obama. He wants the Marxist agenda to fail. Wow. Big shocker. A conservative would like to see a Marxist fail in turning America into yet another failed Marxist state. But of course, Robert Gibbs treats Obama supporters like the morons they must be by saying that Limbaugh would like to see the economy fail.

Seriously. I question the intelligence of anyone who actually believes Robert Gibbs is accurately reflecting what Limbaugh has said. And if you have to confront your opposition by stubbornly arguing strawmen, it demonstrates you are weak. And if you have to spend even 5 seconds addressing radio personalities from the Office of the President of the United States, you are pathetic and weak. You think Limbaugh is tough? Try confronting Iran, Mr. President. Oh right. Your plan is to roll on your back, expose your belly, and beg the Middle East for forgiveness of sins we haven’t committed.

Obama is weak. His press secretary is weak. Pathetic and weak.

Russia just isn’t as good at propaganda as it used to be. Money is flowing out of Russia so fast they have to shut down the markets, their government destroys their own companies in order to buy them at bargain basement prices, and they still haven’t learned that market economies need to diversify in order to survive things like, oh, I don’t know… the drop in the price of oil.

But Drudge gives this professor of propaganda and self-described “political analyst” a platform to scare the susceptible population of the US: the woefully uneducated, self-loathing “progressives” who know nothing about Seward’s Folly, the demographic make-up of the United States or the condition of Russia’s financial situation.

A truly frightening look at how the worldwide economic slow down is effecting Russia, its ruling elite, and the common people..

Russia’s crumbling economy provides stiffest test yet for autocratic leader – Telegraph

<snip>

The survey’s findings are a triumph for the state, proving that the Kremlin has not lost its touch when it comes to manipulating fact. Obeying orders from the top, Russian television has banned the use of words such as “crisis”, “decline” and “devaluation”. Coverage of the mayhem in the country’s stock market, where shares have fallen by 75 per cent since August, is scant.

Instead, just as in Soviet times, Russians are told how bad everything is in the West. The US, Russians are told, is in irreversible decline, while desperate Britons are throwing themselves into the Thames. The Queen, facing imminent penury, has been forced to pawn her diamonds and, according to one tabloid front page, we can no longer afford to bury our dead.

<snip>

“They said that if I didn’t sign then I could look forward to burying my own children,” Svetlana says. “What kind of country do we live in? I thought we were close to becoming a civilised nation, but I’ve been forced to realise that that is an illusion.”

Read the whole thing. The US relationship with Russia, and how it impacts our new allies in the former Soviet satellites, will be one of the real ugly situations that President Obama will have to deal with.

An object lesson in how the media manufactures controversy when there is none, this article is a string of words put together to produce nothing but crap.

Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors’ unity — but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.

The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.

One called it awkward: “I’m sure you could see it on some of our faces.”

Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was “odd” and “weird,” and said it “unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party.”

There has been palpable tension among some GOP governors gathered in Miami that Palin has been sucking up all the media oxygen.

Oh okay, so what does CNN want us to take away from this? Palin is getting all the attention and some people are jealous? Notice not one of the alleged complainers is named.

This is the sorry state of journalism. Petty crap peddled on the front page of major news websites and the use of anonymous sources to protect CNN sources from what, exactly? Palin giving them a dirty look? And there are people out there who read this and accept it as fact that “all the governors” are mad at either Palin or the media for this “tragedy.”

If CNN had any serious news editors this wouldn’t have made the website or live air and the writer of the piece would be sent back to the tape library for six months of archiving duties. Pitiful.

If I want Obama-surrogate talking points, I can go to change.gov for his policy description du-jour. I really don’t need FactCheck.org run by the Annenberg Public Policy Center (PPC) to act as yet another arm of the Obama machine. There’s a good reason the Annenberg PPC has to use quotes to call itself a “nonpartisan, nonprofit “consumer advocate” for voters.” That’s because FactCheck.org, the Annenberg PPC and the Annenberg Foundation all serve as advocates for the Annenberg Foundation which was founded to “advance the public well-being through improved communication.”

To do what?

To advance the public well-being through improved communication.

Okay so who defines “well-being” and “improved communication,” Improved to communicate what? Convince us all we have problems and Obama-style marxism will solve it?

At any rate, Brooks Jackson offers ZERO evidence to support the assertion that Barack Obama’s Civilian National Security Force will be “unarmed” and have no police powers. He doesn’t go to Obama and seek clarification. Instead, Brooks Jackson posts a transcript of the relevant stump speech Obama made when first announcing his plans for a Civilian National Security Force. He then offers his analysis of what the speech means. This is not “fact checking,” any more than political punditry is news. And this is the big problem in our news media today (not to mention the state of education). Not even journalists or professional “facticians” can distinguish a fact from an opinion.

I will assume because he block-quotes the transcript that CQ Transcriptions, and not Brooks Jackson, breaks the speech into paragraphs. If you listen to the speech and then read the transcript, it is quite apparent that the two ideas, “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” and “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded,” go right together. In fact, it is not that the first sentence ends one idea and the second begins another. Based on his speech, the first sentence begins the idea and the second elucidates.

Add to this the use of the words “Security Force” by POTUS-elect Obama. Security is used as an adjective here. What kind of force? A security force. So that means something that secures or provides protection. And what is a “force”? Well even if you were thinking of AmeriCorps or the Peace Corps or any other corps, it is “a body of persons or things available for a particular end.”

Hmmm, what end? National Security.

I’m not here to claim that Obama is talking about secret police or neighbors spying on neighbors or brown shirts or Obama Youth or anything else. I’m here to call Brooks Jackson out and claim that he cannot defend Obama’s idea factually without interviewing Obama or finding an interview of Obama explaining this idea.

Can Brooks Jackson appreciate the irony of writing an opinion piece under the factcheck.org brand name? Only he can say.
