Christians don’t have to obey laws? Oh, really?
11 October 2007Far be it from me to correct Perfected Jew Ann Coulter, but you cannot claim to love Christ if you do not follow his commands.
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” John 3:19
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matthew 7:15-16
“Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.” John 8:42
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15
“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.” John 14:23-24
Do Christians live by a checklist? No. There is no working out salvation, but one knows a true disciple of Christ by his fruit – the product of his labor.

It seems pretty clear to me that Ann Coulter is one of those ‘christians’ who become Christians because they think they can do anything they want as long as they make sure to say “Sorry about that, God. I’ll try to better.”

I don’t know what kind of Christian she is, and many Christians have this crazy idea that there is no effort beyond saying one accepts Christ as their savior and being baptized.
I guess it’s like this for me: if you say you love spinach but every time its served you choose not to eat it, do you really love it? Maybe you only like it sometimes or maybe you just don’t want your spinach-loving friends to think you’re strange.
All I know is what the New Testament says and there are ample warnings about the brides who sleep and servants who do not work when the master is away.
