Biden’s Lies and the Media’s Duplicity..

3 October 2008

How many factually incorrect statements did Senator Joe Biden actually make in the VP debate with Governor Sarah Palin? There were so many, I’m having a hard time keeping up with them all. I’m not talking about mere distortions or statements that were arguably wrong, but clean cut statements of fact that were simply untrue. And how long will we wait for the media to point out all of these incorrect statements? I’m sure that if Sarah Palin had made this many untrue statements, it would be the top headline across the country.

For your reference, here are the ones I have come up with so far. And don’t take my word for it. Go research these statements yourself.

1. Joe Biden stated multiple times that we spend more on combat operations in Iraq in 3 weeks than we have spent in Afghanistan it 7 years. The truth is that 3 weeks in Iraq costs around $7 Billion, as Democrats love to gripe about, and we have spent over $175 Billion in Afghanistan. That is a fact.

2. Joe Biden said that he and Barack Obama both spoke out against, and did not support, the legislative elections in the Palestinian territory in 2006. Biden said they both knew Hamas would get elected and therefore opposed the elections being held according to the original schedule. In reality, Obama visited the territories in 2006, just before the elections were held, and said, “Part of the opportunity here with this upcoming election is to consolidate behind a single government with a single authority that can then negotiate as a reliable partner with Israel”. Abbas also confirmed this in his own accounts, saying “Obama asserted the US supports and eager that the Palestinian legislative elections on its proposed time (January 25).”

3. Sentor Biden stated that Dick Cheney was the most dangerous VP in history and that he had no legitimate roll in the Senate unless there was a tie vote he had to break, according to the Constitution. It seems like someone in the Senate as long as Biden has been would know the truth. The truth is that the Vice President is ALWAYS President of the Senate and is in charge of much of its’ procedures. Different VP’s throughout the life of our country have taken varying roles, but it is clear that Senator Biden misrepresented the scope of the VP’s legitimate and Constitutional role in the Senate. I won’t even touch the gaffe about Article 1 vs. Article 2. I think that was just him misspeaking.

4. Biden stated the he was somehow involved in “throwing Hiz’ballah out of Lebanon.” This is just silly. The Syrian military, not Hiz’ballah, was ejected (mostly) from Lebanon by the Lebanese people but he had nothing to do with it. And in case he forgot, Hiz’ballah is still very powerful in Lebanon and has been since the 80s. Too bad Governor Palin wasn’t familiar enough with the region to call bullshit on that one.

5. Biden said that Obama had never said he would support face to face presidential negotiations with rogue leaders of countries like Iran, Cuba and North Korea. This is a blatant lie. Obama said exactly that in one of the Democratic Primary debates that Biden participated in. It was the CNN-sponsored debates with all of the silly questions from YouTube. Go look it up yourself.

6. Joe Biden accused John McCain of voting to cut of funding for the troops the same way that Obama did. This is a blatant lie. While John McCain did vote against a version of an amendment that included a timetable for withdrawal, when the final bill passage was voted on John McCain voted to fund the troops and Obama voted against it. Disgusting.

7. Joe Biden said “Drill we must” during the debate, and implied that he supported off shore drilling. Another blatant lie. Biden, as well as most of his fellow Democrats, have opposed expansion of efforts to develop domestic energy resources repeatedly. Another simple fact. Not simple enough for Joe Biden to tell the truth about, I suppose. And he lied about his support of new clean coal plants in the US as well.

8. Also on the topic of energy exploration, Joe Biden stated in the debate that it would be 10 years before any new oil would make it to market from any exploration started today. This is a blatant lie as well. Typical estimates are between 2-4 years for new oil to make it to market from much of the areas being considered for new exploration. Don’t take my word for it. Research it yourself.

9. Joe Biden said that John McCain’s health care plan would start taxing individuals for the health insurance benefits that their companies supply. This is also a blatant lie. Senator McCain’s proposal includes a tax credit that would completely cover that tax cost.

I’m sure there are more. These were just the ones that stuck out in my mind..

Joe Biden and Barack Obama: Same old lying Democrats..

  1. mimiped Says:

    Heres my question
If it costs us apprx. 9 billion a month to be in Iraq. Why don’t we just get out and use the $ here. Why was this never an option? Then we won’t need this “bail out”. How can we fix another if we can’t fix ourselves.

  2. Del Simmons Says:

Well, abandoning our mission in Iraq would be a terrible idea for a whole host of reasons. Will Iran take over? Will shelter be given to Al Qaeda? Will all of our soldiers who have given their lives there have died in vain? Will we abandon the Iraqi people to their fate at the hands of terrorists and dictators?

It’s about so much more than just money, mimiped. The truth is that the current financial crisis was not caused by an over streched budget at home, so bailing out of Iraq would not have averted the crisis. This crisis was caused by Democrats in the Congress, and the Clinton Administration forcing banks to throw common lending practices out the window and offer mortgages to people who couldn’t afford one. When these people all started defaulting on their loans, the banks who had invested heavily in securities built from these loans found themselves in very bad shape.

Do some research on the Community Reinvestment Act and then tell me how getting out of Iraq would undo what Carter and Clinton did in the 70s and the 90s.

    It just makes no sense..
